Heist Society - Ally Carter 3.5 stars. Given the fact that it took me 20 days to read this book, and I devoured about 4 other books in the meantime between reading Heist Society, it would almost look as if I didn't like it, and that's not true. Do I feel a bit let down that so many people seemed to love the book and I only "just" liked it? Maybe a little. After taking forever to get through the first half of the book which did feel a bit slow to me, I managed to read the second half in less than a day when I finally became invested. Once the characters got moving on their ultimate heist, the action picked up. I liked that the book had a mystery and adventure feel to it, especially in the second half. What also made the second half for me was the introduction of a mysterious character named Nick, since he was a bit of a catalyst to kick up Hale's jealousy and get him to start focusing more on Kat. To say that I'm a Hale fan is putting it mildly. He's very intriguing. There's something about guys who have it all and don't really notice or care. I liked his attitude.I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who prefers a book with little to no romance, especially fans of middle grade or adventure books, whether teen or adult. I'd even let a younger kid read this one, since there's no content that's offensive, unless you'd consider teen thieves offensive. ;)
