Reading this book the second time around made me want to write a review, but I couldn't figure out what to say.Instead, I'll tell you what I loved rediscovering about this particular installment in the Tairen Soul series :1. Strength of characters - I am amazed at Ellie's ability to balance her wants and insecurities with the need to protect those she loves the most. She could sit back and allow Rain and the warriors to continue to heal her emotional scars, but instead, she fights to care for the hurting around her.2. Introduction of new characters to love - Gaelen is a force to be reckoned with. He's arrogant, pushy, and forceful. I had a love/hate thing for him in this book, but in time, it softened to love only. He is the driving force for change in the Fey universe. Going to give a secondary nod to Adrial and Talisa. Their story is heartbreakingly beautiful.3. Redemption of characters I'd grown to hate - namely Ellie's mom. Even the hardest heart can be softened by love. The love that a mother has for a daughter can be one of the greatest loves of all.4. Realization of self - Rain finally puts Sariel to rest and chooses his love for Ellie. Our feyreisa shines with a new identity. She chooses herself and reveals her purity of soul to the world. Did I get teary eyed yet again? Yep. It happened. These books bring out my inner softie.
