Nevermore

Nevermore - Kelly Creagh This one was a bit overworked in the dreamworld/fantasy scenes, but overall I found it to be a good read.Varen was sort of hit and miss for me. In some scenes I felt him to be realistic and likeable, in others he became almost childlike, and not in a "wounded and self-defensive" way. Maybe he reminds me too much of someone I used to know, so it was hard to overlook part of his personality.Isobel...I was too busy reading the story and trying to figure out what was going to happen to really notice much about her. She was pretty standard. Nothing of her character stood out until close to the end, when the book "told" me she was loyal.Do I sound jaded? Probably. I'm really not. Nevermore was interesting and had a good start to a series. I'm curious about the cliffhanger and what's going to happen in the next book. Some of the plot felt like I was reliving a darker version of The Hourglass Door, another book that I enjoyed. This one was a bit more bleak and creepy, but had a similar feel to the lighter HGD in concept.
